On Thursday, April 18, 2024, MCESA Director of Special Education, Greg Crider was celebrated as one of six recipients of Saginaw Valley State University's 2024 Heroes in Education award.
Greg began his career as a Social Studies teacher in San Diego, California. Upon relocating to Midland, he began working with MCESA as a substitute teacher and paraprofessional for students with significant behavioral disorders.
He was nominated by Superintendent John M. Searles who stated that Greg is an extraordinary human who epitomizes servant leadership. Searles said that Greg recognizes that the students who are most challenging often need the most support, and he never shies away from this challenge. Instead, he embraces it, working to unlock each student's hidden potential and guides them toward paths of personal success.
The Heroes in Education are recognized for making a difference in student's lives, schools, communities, and the teaching profession.
Congratulations to Greg and each of this year's recipients!
